Is a Megabyte larger than a Gigabyte?

I don't know who needs to hear this... but I do know there some who can’t tell their bits from their bytes.

Data sizes are usually measured in 'bytes', while broadband speeds are measured in 'bits'. This post is about BYTES. The measurement of space on an external drive or your computer.

Let's say that you are going to send a picture to a friend through email. Your email say’s the file is too big. You look at your picture and it says 2052 kilobytes (KB). A kilobyte is smaller than a megabyte so are you safe to send it? The answer is no because it is more than a megabyte. In fact 2052 KB is over 2 MB. You will need to either reduce the size of the file, zip it or send it through Dropbox or something.

KB - Kilobyte ☞ small

MB - Megabyte ☞ medium

GB - Gigabyte ☞ large

TB - Terabyte ☞ x-large

KB, MB, GB - A kilobyte (KB) is 1,024 bytes. A megabyte (MB) is 1,024 kilobytes. A gigabyte (GB) is 1,024 megabytes. A terabyte (TB) is 1,024 gigabytes.
