5 Tips on How To Not Suck At Instagram
A crappy Instagram account for your small business is worse than not having one at all. Here are 5 super simple & essential tips so you don’t suck.
1. CONTINUITY
The easiest way to create a profile that gains fans and followers is to post consistently. Create a schedule that works for you – make posting a part of your daily/weekly schedule. You can not post every few weeks and expect for it to work. I believe in posting daily or a few times per week. With the options of creating live videos and stories on Instagram, you now have more options of giving your posting schedule creative flexibility.
2. KEEP IT RELEVANT
The golden rule is… post business stuff on your personal account, but don’t get too personal on your business account. What this means is… if your business Insta account is about your restaurant – you don’t post about your kids soccer game (unless you’ve provided the food or sponsorship) keep it relevant to what you’re selling.
3. CAPTIONS
There is a lot of discrepancy between short captions and long captions. It depends on the context and the image. If it’s a meme and you are trying to be funny – keep it short, if you are building a brand then you want to tell your story and create a deeper relationship with your followers.
4. HASHTAGS
Unless you have thousands of followers in your niche and business is booming, you don’t really need to use hashtags. Hashtags are your link to increasing your audience and developing a relationship with your community. ✨The keys to great hashtag usage will be in a post coming soon.
5. ENGAGEMENT
Now that you can like ♥ and reply to comments on Instagram, you can engage. Follow & Like create be a part of the local community by following your customers and local businesses. Comment and Engage with other IGers in your community. Nothing is worse than consistently posting and never responding to comments.
